My favorite moments in my life as both a student and a teacher have been when something feels like magic. When you make a small change suddenly what felt impossible is now effortless. When the little guy can hold down the giant or the slender girl loop chokes the jacked guy.
Now, I'm not talking about chakra or qi or chi - I'll save that for another post. I'm simply talking about elegance. Not elegance in the esthetic sense but elegance in the mathematical sense. There's something truly beautiful about taking a complex and inscrutable problem and distilling it into a brief and powerful statement or expression.
So here's to those moments of magic in Jiu Jitsu - may they inspire us to keep pushing ourselves, keep experimenting with our technique, and keep experiencing the wonder and beauty of this incredible martial art and in our lives in general.
